September 2007 Theme ~ "Fairy Tales"

Our assignment this month was to write a poem relating to fairies.

Congratulations to our September winners!

Story Time In The Garden

At evening in the Fairy Garden
When the sun has gone to bed
The little Fairies gather
For a story to be read.

They like to hear about the things
The older Fairies remember ~
The days of sunshine and flowers
And the glow of gold September.

The stories of the morning
When the sun emerges from the mist,
The days of love and laughter
When fairy life was sun kissed.

They listen very carefully,
But cobwebs fill their heads
And soon they are gathered up
And carried to their beds.

They are covered up with petals
So that they will be warm
And always someone is watching
To keep them safe from harm.

They drift off on the dream tide,
They are tired for having played,
Evening is very lovely
In the beautiful Fairy Glade.

The Fairy Garden

I love to sit in my back yard
Among the flowers and trees,
It always seems so peaceful there
With sun and gentle breeze....

But I felt something was missing,
And so when summer came
I planted a fairy garden
Using plants with fairy names

It's bordered with Fairy Roses,
So tiny, pink, and sweet,
And Elfin Thyme around the bench,
On which to rest our feet.

There's a little flower birdbath
On which sits a tiny fae,
And a little toadhouse which might
Make a fairy home someday.

We imagine the fairies splashing
In the water cool and clear,
And playing hide and seek around
The flowers without fear.

I love my fairy garden,
My grandkids love it too
We watch for fairies every day
And hope we'll see a few!

That Qwerty Fairy

There is a little fairy
who's taken up a place
Here upon my keyboard
a grin upon her face.

She's such a naughty fairy
for when I go to type
She's switches round the letters
so nothing comes out right!

Jumbled worded emails
with Ks becoming Ls,
She even sneaks a wayward S
just to confuse myself!

At 60 words a minute
her slick ability
Is fired by the gremlins
as she messes with the keys.

Oh yes, I know a fairy
she really does exist
For she lives upon my keyboard
even as I'm typing this!
