October 2006 Theme ~ "The Storm"
Amber Colored Glasses
The rages of the storm he left
As he tried to hide his fear
A drink, just one or maybe two
Could bring a calming near.
She watched behind her glasses
As he sipped just one more beer
Tears welled in her eyes again
She feared the end was near.
She tried for years to tell him
She didn't want to live alone
He seemed to listen to her pleas
But he could not hear her tone.
This devil that has consumed him
Will leave her alone some day
She wears the amber colored glasses
To hide her fears away.
She can see the beauty of the day
And can smile to hide the pain
In her amber colored glasses
She wears once again.

The Storm
Sometimes in life we weather the storms
With the struggles that we face
Do we curl up and die with our head in our hands
Or put them in their place?
Many a storm I have faced in my life
And I thought I couldn't go on
But I dug deep inside and whispered a prayer
With God's help I could now be strong.
We never know what trials we'll face
They have been there since we were born
But the one whose hand I'll always hold
Will see me through any storm.

The Dark Skies
Over the horizon I see the clouds turning black
The turmoil within brings back memories
Of two years back that horrible day
As tears run down my face, I see red
That fateful night when my life changed
Forever changed, it seemed there was no future
The blood is now gone, but the stain in my heart remains
Gone, but not forgotten
My path changed for all time a journey unknown
My heart cries out to the storm
My soul opens up to the voice heard midst the wind
I ride against the wind into the distance, chasing something I can not catch.

The Storm
As she leaned in the doorway
looking up at the sky
She stood there remembering
The storms of days gone by.
Storms that took many shapes and sizes
Storms from which she wanted to hide
Storms she conquered without a blink of an eye
Storms she simply wanted to set aside.
Little did she realize until just lately
that storms, no matter how big or small,
With God standing close by her side,
She could win them all.

Thunder Rolls
It was a dark and stormy night,
When the ghastliest Halloween fright
Was the shock and horror of my life
When lightning strikes and thunder rolls.
Banshee winds were howling and blowing.
In the mausoleum a candle was eerily glowing.
Shadows moving, dried leaves were flowing.
When lightning strikes and thunder rolls.
Rain pelted the ground with its tears.
We went to Blood Cemetery for fright and fear.
We never dreamt of what we would see here
When lightning strikes and thunder rolls.
The gravestones shone with each flash of light.
The trees looked demonic in the night sky.
The fence rails resembled giant spikes
When lightning strikes and thunder rolls.
Suddenly, a headless soldier showed
The apparition was walking very close.
The famous cemetery ghost, so we were told
When lightning strikes and thunder rolls.

Our Final Storm
Our relationship like a spring storm came quickly.
Spinning, twisting, out of control there you were.
A cyclone of emotions, reactions, pain and joy.
Swirling, gusts of wind pushing me, guiding me along the way.
Showering me with happiness, an enduring, eventual forever feeling.
Flooding my heart with love, hope, another chance at love.
Our relationship like a summer storm came with impending doom.
The torrent rain staining my face.
A thunderbolt of our relationship in the forefront.
Droplets of tears sprinkling down my face
Forming puddles of water by my feet.
The eventual lightning strike making me aware of our fate.
The hail hitting me hard, denting my self-worth, but realizing the truth.
The calm before the storm.
You and me
Weathering our final storm.

The Thunder Storm
It was a dark night bitterly cold
Nothing was stirring not even the grass mold
Static is going through the air
So strong it is messing up my hair.
The wind is starting to blow and hard
The sky is black like a midnight cat
A flicker of lightning lights up the sky
The thunder is loud as dynamite.
I wonder where my family is at
I watch from the safety of home
Looking for the car driving on the road
Waiting for my family to come back home.
I hear a car pull up into the driveway
My worries are over now, they are safe
My son and I are scared of the lightning
We know the thunder cannot hurt us.
One last bolt of lightning lights up the sky
The storm is over for the rest of the night
I hate thunderstorms at any time
However, I do prefer them in the daylight.

The Storm
It happened but wasn't completely unexpected.
Things like this shouldn't happen again but they have.
This time I have a chance to do something about it.
I may step up and take guardianship and I so want to.
The storm is my nephew and godson who has ended up in C.A.S.
because his mother won't take proper care of him and so they took him away.
Refusing therapy confirms she will lose her third child.
I love him so much and he is still so young.
I dislike seeing him put through a life like this. The pain saddens me,
it's just not right for a child to suffer for lack of proper parental guidance.
I always wish the best but wishing did no good so know the best I can do for him
is take him and give him a good home just like my own children have.
She cares for herself but can't manage with a child she gave birth to.
Maybe it was a novelty, new until the little precious was old enough
to have an opinion and then it became a problem for her busy life.
So hoping that his mom doesn't decide she wants him back
after she sees him having a better life.
It's so hard to sit and watch him be placed and never see him again.
Innocent children are brought from heaven, precious angels
that need to be cared for and cherished, not little demons sent to ruin lives.

Southeaster
The ol' southeaster sure did blow
And along with 'er came a banshee
One with a howl
The other, loud and screechy.
I run and hide, but to no avail
They caught up to me, with the rain and hail
The day turned to night
I could do nothing, in my fright.
They swirled around my presence,
Showing all of their vengeance,
But I was protected from the force,
And just as sudden, changed its course.
