I woke up today with a smile on my lips,
I thought of you first, it came to me quick,
I said thank you tho' your miles away,
You made me smile through all the pain.

I looked at my phone and you had said the same thing.
Thank you, my friend, for being there for me.
I smiled and replied your welcome, my dear, anything for friends
Here or there.

Im thankful for the friendship God has given us,
Though your miles away,
You’re never far from my heart.

I look back on the fights we have had,
But God knew what he was doing,
Making us friends.

I don’t really need to thank you for that,
But my dear friend
I love you and thank god that you’re here.

Two Kinds of Gratitude & Thanksgiving

Not too long ago, my heart was filled with gratitude
A child was born into our lives, a nephew for me to hug
Spoiling him was to be my task for the next decade or so
Thanksgiving was the emotion in my heart for this little treasure
As I went to hold him in my arms and put the bottle to his lips

Now as I hang up the phone again I make a prayerful request
Please let him come home from this trip
Let the doctors know how to find what is wrong
Let his food stay within and help him to grow up big and strong
Gratitude to those who share with me the prayers
Thanksgiving now for friends that care.
