May 2007 Theme ~ "The Rose"

The Rose

The shadows of the night skies
Setting behind the western horizons
A light golden mist
Reflecting through the valleys of time
The beauty and radiance
Against the back drop of the new dawn
The crystal like tears drops of dew
On the crimson velvet petals
A portrait of the flower of love
Reaching out to all the hearts
Within this wondrous time of spring

The rose

With silent words that never need to be spoken
But when it's given by the hand of love
The meaning of the time awakens a sleeping soul
To the innocent in this journey of life
The heart can hear the hidden meaning
That comes from with in the soul of the rose
The flower of eternal love

The rose

The Rose

What flower is this, whose sweetest fragrance floats
Around it like a cloud, and petals pink
So gently open to the summer sun?
It has to be a summer rose, I think....

The glistening dewdrops lie upon this flower,
Its velvet surface begs to be caressed,
It lifts its face and looks up to the sky
And by the sun is oh, so softly kissed.

And I, who hold this treasure in my hands,
I know that it is worth far more than gold.
This little flower was sent from up above....
My granddaughter today is four years old.

The Rose Tattoo

The veil belies MiLady's face
tending to her sorrow
A masquerade of ardent grief
revealing her a widow

A single tear escapes the eyes
downcast to her knee
While silently she dons the mark
that no one else can see.

A secret shrouded in her heart
branding her forever
The name upon the faded rose
as she buries another.

Oh what a tangled web she weaves
pondering the fate
Of suitors yielding her despair,
the widow lays in wait

And yet like those before them
I wonder if they knew?
MiLady's grief was just a guise
worn with her Rose Tattoo.

The Stand Alone Rose

I've seen it several times now, that Rose outside my window
I thought how strange it stands alone, no other Rose around it.
Alone among the lilac bushes, some peonies and flowers;
How beautiful it stands alone, such beauty, strength and power.

Today I really looked at it so red, and round and gorgeous.
The other flowers around; their beauty is unnoticed.
Unless you really look at them. The Rose steals all their beauty.

It stands alone among the lilac bushes, some peonies and flowers;
How beautiful it stands alone, such beauty, strength and power.
I look again, I don't know why, this Rose it draws you in.
It makes you take a second look, that's how strong it is.

The other flowers around; their strength goes unnoticed.
Unless you really look at them. The Rose steals all their strength.
Alone among the lilac brushes, some peonies and flowers;
How beautiful it stands alone; such beauty, strength and power.

What is it like to be this Rose? Growing all alone.
Among flowers that are different and probably don't care.
It gives this Rose that grows alone the power to be.
To be beautiful and strong; what character it takes to be different all along.

This Rose is so powerful, the others go unnoticed. Unless you really look.
It is this Rose that gives me back My beauty, strength and power.

My Roses

I have a rose that's red,
She's bright and she's cheery true,
I only have eyes for her too.

I have a rose that's blue,
She's announcing the baby boys here,
I only have eyes for the dear.

I have a rose that's pink,
She's telling me there's a girl today,
I only have eyes for lil play.

I have a rose that's yellow,
She's showing us the way to friendship,
I only have eyes for just it.

I have a rose that's black,
She's not a dying rose she's a light,
I only have eyes for in the night.

My roses they are the sun and moon,
The ever growing bloom!

My Roses.

Roses

Red and yellow, pink, white, the colors created from a rose
are so very nice, even though they're not my thing.
So many like them, unsure why, beauty, I suppose.
They're nice in their own way. Ordinary flowers they are not,
The many things they mean to so many people
Most ladies' favorite flower is the flower
I have heard said is the flower of elegance
Smooth petals they sure do have.
It's a wonder if they're made of silk being so smooth.
Every day you see people receive a single red rose,
Also often seeing people receive many dozens of roses,
Smooth flower petals, nice colors, all put together.

Rose

I never knew you were my daylight,
until the night's shadows came.
I never knew you were my sunshine,
till the rain washed your name.

I never knew you were my voice
till I couldn't speak again
I never knew you were my laughter
till I couldn't smile the same.

I've always thought life was perfect
And everything was just a game
I never knew you were my world
Till there's nothing left to claim.

Roses In Mama's Garden

Mama loved roses yes she did
She grew them at the house
Red ones white ones pink ones
I remember pricking my finger as a kid
I laughed when a thorn went down her blouse

She laughed when I fell down
Those darn prickly thorns gave me a frown
I swear those roses were possessed
All of those thorns got me on my loves nest
Mama's favorite color was blue

Mama never got the chance to grow roses
Due to the fact that we had to move
The yard we had was no good
Mama still loved roses though
The roses in her Heavenly garden continue to grow.

My Rose

My rose was red and open,
With silky and soft petals,
Someone had given to me,
Without having any nettles.

I have put it in my vase,
With the water it can drink,
Sense of smell is fresh,
That allows me to think.
