May 2006 Theme ~ "Butterflies"

Emerge A Butterfly

Emerge from deep within the shrouds of vast floral array
The sweet fragrance enveloping the birth of this new day.

Unseen to the naked eye, her invisibility
Hides her deep in the facade, lost in reality.

A burst of sunlight so intense, capturing the hues
Of translucent gossamer that one can see right through.

Magically befitting that changes what we see
From something so invisible to a wonderful beauty!

With wings of independence moulded in her soul
Completes this transformation as new life takes ahold;

Reaching for the stars above, she steps into a dream
And flies upon her new-found wings....this butterfly is free.

Butterflies

A reflection of the time through the land
Spring with all her color and splendor
Casting a shadow of a new beginning to life
The whispering wind
Shimmering a tune of the time through the leaves
There is a cocoon swaying gently
Beneath the canopy of the trees

A movement, A break,
The slow motion of color comes from within
The beauty of nature giving birth to one of her own
As a portrait of a butterfly comes to life
Stretching it's silken wings
Ready for flight

The color of Season
Is the back drop to this new beginning
Of a journey in time
The flowers in the fields
Where the butterflies place the final touch
On the painting of Nature at her gracious best

Monarchs and Me

Hours upon hours
I've been sitting in this darkness

Convention centers all look the same,
Dark, drab walls, gray carpeting,
and the smell of leftover fast food permeates the building

Needing to see the sunlight again,
I climb the stairs
Up, up, and up
to the terrace, to the world outside

Walking outdoors I feel...
Sunlight on my arms warming me,
I hear...the sound of birds singing
And looking down at the trees I find something that makes my heart soar,
Butterflies!

Hundreds and hundreds of Monarchs
The trees are full of them and I cannot get enough,
I smile knowing the convention will be easier now,
I will keep that memory alive,
A moment in time,
A moment when it was just me and the Monarchs.

Dance of the Butterflies

Standing in the shadows of the dawn
Catching a glimpse of a doe and her fawn
Enjoying the butterflies' graceful dance
Kneeling in prayer, watching nature prance.

The butterflies flutter, intrigues me most
Only the air, is the butterflies host
The trees whisper in my ear
And dew drops fall, like a tiny tear.

Swaying back and forth
Celebrating the day of their birth
They dance, what seems like for hours
And stop only to visit the flowers.

Watching nature is life's greatest lesson
For the butterflies, there is no oppression
Enjoying the time they have on this earth
Celebrating wisely is their re-birth.

The Butterfly Meadow

Within a sun-lit meadow
Amongst the gentle trees
A shining flash of color
Is seen among the leaves

A small enchanting figure
Flittering all about
To land upon a flower
Without a single sound

The figure then arises
It's time to say good-bye
A sudden flash of color
Reveals to be a beautiful butterfly

Colors blended gently
As the butterfly fades away
Soon more will come to take its place
Amongst the sun's bright rays

Sweet Butterfly

In memory of my daughter Emalee, born an angel April 6, 2004, and my mom who passed away May 24, 2000 Sweet butterfly
Spread your wings
Soaring through the sky

No longer bound
To life on Earth
You're finally free to fly.

On a breeze
Floating by
I can see you

Sweet butterfly
You've found your wings
Dreams really do come true.

Butterfly Dreams

Closed inside a cocoon
just biding its time
waits a strong and beautiful
butterfly inside.
Patient to trust
in God just so much
the butterfly dreams of the day
when the elements are right
and she can take her first flight
in glory she'll soar far away.

Butterflies

Beautiful butterflies as they fly around
powdered wings flying everywhere
watch watch here she comes from out of nowhere
she's ready and she's coming.

She has no intent to hurt you but she will
without knowing she is.
She's just still to young to understand
about the powder on your wings.

Oh no she did it she got you see
she's caught you in her great big net.
I will try oh I will try to see if I can
convince her to set you free
to just watch you fly and let you be.

But I offer no absolute guarantee
she loves to see you up close
the colors you display and how you
blend so easily.

A Soft Flutter

The morning drew a soft warm wind
The flowers danced in play
She slowly flew by my window pane
On her way to welcome her busy day

Having a delicious nectar meal
She floated from petal to petal
Colors of gold and brown whirled in her fluttering
As she landed on the window pane metal

She looked at me with a melancholy stare
She was full from her morning's arrival
I smiled and touched her velvety wings
Off she flew for her own survival...

Butterfly, butterfly, where do you go
When you leave my yard each morn?
Butterfly, butterfly, come back to visit
And make my day not so forlorn

Butterflies In My Tummy

I like to watch hockey
The San Jose Sharks is my team
My favorite player is #14
His name is Jonathan Cheechoo

When I see him I get
Butterflies in my tummy
I watch the game on TV
I'm so into it I feel like

I am right there at the rink
I can see Jonathan and the team
Deep within my dreams
I dare not to blink

Butterflies in my tummy
Jonathan Cheechoo goals
The Thundering crowd roars
At the Shark Tank

Butterflies in my tummy
Only when I watch The San Jose
Sharks play hockey

Life Is Like A Butterfly

Life is like a butterfly
Oh my, time sure does fly
Fluttering around in the midnight sky
While a mother sings her child a lullaby
Flying around free
As beautiful as can be
Is a butterfly that
Only I can see
