March 2007 Theme ~ "The Willow Tree"

The Willow Tree

Head bowed in private conversation
My heart opened without reservation
Within his love we find perfect peace
Our fears and sorrows to him release
His love a curtain around our souls
Our own self doubt its only holes
Raising my head my eyes open wide
I take a peek at the world outside
Protected within his loving embrace
Ready to step back into the human race
Sweeping back the enclosing branches
I take another of his offered second chances
After the moments of prayer and contemplation
Life continues with all its rampant wild temptation
Ours to chose this chaotic way
More concerned with what others say
Or let the curtain of his branching love
Hold us safe from above

The Willow Tree

Billowing beautifully in the breeze
The majestic sight of the Willow Tree.

Surviving the test as centuries pass
This icon of history is in it's own class.

Beauty and splendor all rolled up in one
The impression it leaves cannot be undone.

The strength of it's branches down to it's base
Sometimes symbolizes us- the human race.

From the last leaf to it's solid foundation
The Willow Tree is one of God's greatest creations.

The Willow Tree

I sit under the willow tree and hear the quiet voice say to me
You're my child so tiny and small don't be scared.
You won't fall from grace and glory as you sit way down there.
Under my branches at my base. Sitting calmly
then I say willow tree willow tree what do you see
way up there above the tree tops in the sky?
I hear the willow tree say I see many things
That happen both at night and in the day.
I seen the boys that ran away after
they pulled your hair and tried to make you play.
I also hear things both at night and during the day.
I ask the willow tree once more
what do you hear both in the night and in the day.
The willow tree says I hear you always say please oh please go away.
I hear the clouds give warning that it's going to rain.
I also hear the thunder sound way above my branches and the ground.
But I always wish the same wish when I see a falling star.
Even though I'm just a willow tree that when the morning comes.
I will still get to see my little friend that always comes to sit with me.
Every afternoon and night before she goes to bed.

Under the Willow Tree

Under the gnarled willow tree
the young maiden cuts green shoots
dressed in her mother's finest robes.
She has ground corn for four days
and now must show the last
of her womanly accomplishments;
a basket with willow branch background
patterned with rosebud and fern bracken.
Her mind is filled with questions
her body fatigued for lack of sleep.
A single tear drips, splashing the ground
and she wonders how many tears
have watered the feet of Mother Willow.
How many prayers have drifted
through her branches like a soft summer breeze?
Sitting, her slender fingers deftly
weave the willow weft, tucking in the ends.
As she speaks her hidden thoughts
to Mother Willow, anticipation and joy
defeat her fears of marriage.

The Mystery of the Willow Tree

Hanging lower with every breeze
The leaves do droop and bow
Though it has stood for many years
It looks quite elderly now

The rain has beaten upon the limbs
And seems to threaten loss
But still the tree will stand
And remain at any cost

What is the cause, the way it looks
So dejected and so worn down?
Why is this tree designed this way,
About to touch the ground?

It's simple if you stop and think,
We all grow and go through strife,
Yet somehow worries and problems
Won't make us give up on life

So it is with the willow tree
Winds and storms cause it to bend
But it's only trying to reach back down
To Mother Earth, who is it's friend

The Willow Tree a warm breeze rustles the leaves as I sit here beneath the willow tree the summer sun warms the air as the shade here cools my skin a soft wistful smile appears as I remember past summers like this sitting here by myself, alone and planning out my life's path it's funny how all those plans never quite turned out as they should yet here I am, none the worse for wear sitting under these leaves once again Copyright © 2007 ~ Raven

The Old Willow Tree The shadows of the new dawn stretching over the meadow Reflecting the colors through the shimmering leaves Of the old Willow Tree My mind journey's back to my young years Where as children we would play beneath the boughs The games and laughter would echo in the air The fun filled times when we played right there Beneath the old Willow Tree As the years passed by day by day And in time when I came of age My first love took my breath away One beautiful spring day He engraved his love upon my soul And into the trunk of that old Willow Tree Now my hair with a silver sheen l look back down that meadow so green With warm memories I cherish of the time now long past To that old Willow Tree Reminding me of the beautiful times I now hold close within my heart Copyright © 2007 ~ Tootypup

Natural Beauty The willow tree is beautiful to me Can you see it's natural beauty? The leaves are towards the ground Perfect shading for the heat of the day Enjoying the natural & birds sound I like sitting under them my day melts away Like all trees the willow tree is God's creation I'm sure they are all over the nation Do you see how much they mean to me? I am hurt when I see the destruction of any tree Garden Keeper Cheri likes the willow tree Surely they mean the same to her as they do me Cheri can see their natural beauty The willow tree is like no other I wish I could plant one somewhere In memory of my mother Sadly where I live I cannot But when I see a willow tree I think of my mother & me Copyright © 2007 ~ Selena

A Willow Tree Beneath the peaceful and serene willow tree We reminisced and shared our lives. Over and over not missing a beat Not leaving out a moment or forgetting Those special times, two hearts captivated. The emotion, escaping our souls, leaving our bodies, Just like the wind swirling the leaves around on the ground. This willow tree left us with a sense of Courage in that what we shared together let us See into each other’s innermost feelings. It helped us find a place into each other’s hearts This meant something very special to us both. Listen close; hear the whispers that we shared. Symbolic indeed is a willow tree.
