Poem #1

Independence Day

On the fourth of July in 1776
This country declared indendence.
To follow would be many years of strife
Freedom would win in the end.

To me the stars and strips on the flag.
So make it anything but a rag.
I cherish the freedom it signifies
Anytime it soars and flies.

Please respect her for she is proud
to fly for a country that is so free.
For then will our country say out loud.
The few, the proud, the brave, the free.

Poem #2

Independence In The Music World

Selena was born April 16 1971
At a young age her voice was unique
Her father noticed it and started a clique
Selena began singing when she was 10 years old

Back then Tejano was all men
Then all of a sudden Selena became a female Tejano sensation
Selena broke down the wall to become the female Tejano star
Her music sold all over the nation

Selena worked hard to get to where she was at in the music world
She had fans of all kinds she was popular it was her hard work
Selena was and still is the Tejano Rose
Her music will never be outsold
They will always remain gold

In the hearts of her fans Selena lives on
To everyone Selena will remain declercq
Selena will always be loved from afar

Poem #3

~INDEPENDENCE~

To be free
free to be
That's what Independence
means to me
Think what I want
Love who I can
Live for today
Find my life's plan

Wars have raged
and battles have come
To protect my life
My liberty and freedom

Independence to me
Means we're all the same
We're uniquely different
In life's beautiful game.

Poem #4

Seeking Independence

From our birth to our death,
There is something that we seek.
Always reaching ever further,
To climb another peak.

Little ones gain new skills,
And say,... Mommy I can do!
Teens,impatient to grow up,
Resist the set curfew.

Through the years of hard work,
Relaxation becomes our dream.
Then the time of feeling worn,
And seeking our release.

Yes we pass through stages,
Looking for these special things.
Always seeking independence,
And the freedom that it brings.
