April 2008 Theme ~ "A Tribute to Motherhood"
Our April theme assignment was to write a poem in tribute to Mothers and/or Motherhood.
Congratulations to our April winners!
In Respect of Motherhood
I have looked around me
And watched the Mothers of today,
Remembered days now long gone
When I was just that way.
An energetic younger woman
With laughter in my voice,
Those funny little children days
Would make my heart rejoice.
I still rejoice in Motherhood
And the friendship that it brings
Watching the young women that I bore
Makes my heart soar on eagle's wings.
And yet somewhere in my heart
There is a sadness if I glance,
Thinking of those I know
Who never had the chance.
No son or daughter entrusted to them
And hearts that are broken and sore,
And other friends to whom no-one listened
And who had to give up the child they bore.
Those whose lives were made complete
And the hearts that sang again,
Because another gave them a child
Which took away their pain.
I think of the Grandma's who care
For children when Mother is at work,
Who spend their autumn days in care,
And would never ever shirk.
And so to all who do "Mother things"
With love and tenderness,
I have a very special admiration
And quietly say "Heaven Bless".

My Mother My Friend
My mother, my friend
On you I depend
You're the sunshine of my life ~
Such laughter you bring
To my heart within,
A blessing I could never deny.
The gift of your love
From heaven above
The beauty that you behold ~
Seen in the eyes
For it's no surprise
Your love is as pure as gold.
To cherish your wonder
I've come to ponder
On the woman who bore the pain ~
To give me a life
With you by my side
Your love will always remain.
The gift of a mother
Is like no other
Something I could not find ~
If I searched the whole earth
For a woman of worth
You would win every time.
There's no one who I
Would wish for in life
Than the love you give to me ~
You will never grow old
For your heart and your soul
Will live with me eternally.
I love you, dear mother,
You are like no other
On you I've come to depend ~
A shoulder to cry
On whom I rely
The woman who is my best friend.
Thank you for all
You give me, and more
Without you I would not be ~
For you bore the pain
To always remain
The woman you've taught in me.
My mother, my friend,
My love never ends
For you will always be ~
A most precious part
Within my heart
The bond that you share with me.

A Mother's Love
A mothers love is something special
It stands the test of time
A mothers love is something wonderful
It teaches us so much.
A mothers love is always there
To calm our fears, and wipe away tears.
A mothers love is not always kind,
Its always there to help us through
A mothers love is always there
Through the good times and the bad times
A mothers love is always strong
She’ll always be there to keep us strong.

Dear Mother
Dear Mother,
“M” is for is memories that mom and I have shared.
“’O” means only wishing that I would of really cared.
“T” is for the time she spent with me.
“H” is for her heart of compassion, support, strength and discipline.
“E” is for her endless love and never giving up and believing.
“R” is for realizing that I am special because of her.
You filled our home with unconditional love and laughter.
You are the glue that holds our family together.
Now that dad is gone you have tightened your grip;
And hold us close by surrounding us with your incredible strength,
Even though we know you are struggling with the pain and the tears.
Dad would be so proud of you right now.
Words cannot express how much,
I love, appreciate, and thank you for being my mom and a grandmother.
You have given me what I need to live and to pass on.
I love you,
Your daughter

My Mother
A nurse that she is you see,
She has loved all of me.
A baby of her's she loved me so,
I think perhaps more than my bro.
She taught me how to talk at five,
She prayed for me to stay alive.
She is indeed an angel in disguise,
But she sure does know how to light up my eyes.
She's my mother the one I turn to for help you see,
Never letting me forget memories of my father in heaven free.
My mother the nurse she's always there when I need her,
Boy am I a lucky one my life with out her would be a blur!
