April 2006 Theme ~ "Sunshine"
Sunshine on our shoulders makes us happy, sunshine in our eyes
can make us cry....you are my sunshine, my only sunshine....
I'm walkin' on sunshine....you are the sunshine of my life....
Our April theme assignment was to write a poem that in some way
relates to SUNSHINE, or about someone or something that
creates sunshine in our lives.
Congratulations to our April winners!
We had a tie for FIRST PLACE
The Sunshine in My Life
I always have sunshine in my life
even when it is cloudy and gray
This sunshine revolves around me
with the dawning of each new day
My sunshine is my children
They are the reason I live
I thank the Lord for them each day
My love to them always I give
Yes I have sunshine in my life
Even if the sun doesn't shine
My precious children I love you so
And I will until the end of time

My Little Sunshine
(For my youngest granddaughter Kennedy Shea, age 2-1/2)
Whenever I feel weary, and life just gets me down,
Here comes my little Sunshine, to spread her cheer around.
She chases all the blues away, she takes away the strife,
She makes my days just beautiful, she brightens up my life.
She helps me through the darkest times, when it seems black as night.
I don't know what I'd do without her golden rays of light.
And though sometimes my path seems dim and I can't find the way,
My little Sunshine's always there to brighten up each day.

The Sunshine Within our Garden
I walk the pathways in the early dawn
In a Garden so beautiful
Full of color from the golden and reds to the browns and the fawns
The color of Spring in the shadow of the morn
A gentle breeze
Whispering through the leaves of the willow trees
The morning dew upon the petals of the flowers
With the colors of the rainbow
In the tear drops of the dew
The birds are singing their tune of the new day
As l make my way
Along this pathway in our Garden true
The light of the dawn breaking across the distant horizon
The reflection of life awakening from the nights shadow
In this Garden where friendships are made
Where the Sunshine will always be for all eternity
The golden rays of Friendship will last forever in time
Where strangers from afar
Will feel the warmth and the beauty within their hearts
In our Garden of Friendship where the Sunshine will never fade

...AND WE HAD A TIE FOR THIRD PLACE...
I have a little ray of sunshine
That is well and truly mine
She sleeps most of the day
But she also loves to play
She begs for a cuddle or a pat
But runs and hides from the cat
She loves a walk and picks up sticks
Returns her love with lots of licks
I'd be so lost without my sunshine
Her sister Honey would also pine
For now I'll love her 'til we part
I'll have her forever in my heart

In the sunshine of my youth
So very long, long ago
I had my oats to sew
Impressionable, loving and shining bright.
At middle age,
my sunshine doesn't shine so strong
where has all the sunshine gone?
Older, wiser, a little forlorn.
My sunshine now grows dimmer
In the darkness of my years
Yet, I'll face my fears
In the sunshine of your youth.
New life will bring the rays
A child has brought the sunshine
This happens over time
A grandchild,
makes everything bright,
And starts all over again.
