Miscellaneous Assignments
This first mini assignment of 2007 was to write....guess what....
a poem about New Year's Resolutions!
On New Year's Day two thousand seven, resolutions I did make
I'd give up sweets and also fats and maybe chocolate cake....
I'd do my exercise each day, I'd do it every night,
And then next day I'd start again, from early morning light.
On January second, I had miserably failed,
I'd scarfed up all that chocolate cake and through the sweets I'd sailed,
The party leftovers must be used, couldn't let them go to waste,
I had to eat them, every bite, regardless of the taste.
The exercise consisted of my fork from mouth to plate,
It seemed I'd made a lousy start, I ate and ate and ate.
And now with only three hundred sixty four days to wait,
Perhaps I'll stop....and try again....in two thousand and eight.

New Year's Resolution
Every year people sit down and write
The resolve for their life
To do something different
To reach a new height
We say we will change things
We say never more
We say we will begin
And be slackers no more
It looks good on paper
And flows from our mouth
We have great intentions
But then it goes South
For some of us we vow
And do all we say
The mistakes of the previous year
Have all gone away
Resolutions are designed
To create a new you
But it only works
If you continue to follow through

Working it out for 2007
I know I will be able to keep them.
If I don't make as many this year,
25 resolutions are too many I fear,
That would definitely cause mayhem.
Ten might be just the way to go
Not at all a number too low
But honestly realistic I must be
Making only a few good ones is key.
Five, now that sounds more like it
Even for one like me that would fit
But no, lets make it easier to remember
And less likely to give in to a tempter
One really solid resolution
That is the solution
Yes, that would work
Just one I would not shirk
Now that I have the quantity decided
With what resolution will I be blighted
This number part was hard enough
I'll wait till next year for the other stuff.

each new year comes
as the old passes on by
as the old clock
strikes the hour of midnight
again I give a big sigh
and I wonder why
a promise I make to myself
to keep in good health
to do the things that I have always dreamed
a day at a time I start my new journey
to follow the road of time
for I know that it is mine
to make my choices
and to aim to achieve
my resolution of old
was once so bold
but now again
a decision I have made
it is to be just happy
to have good friendships
to be loved
and to give love
that is my little resolution for me

New Year's Resolutions
resolutions made and then broken
but have faith not all resolutions are hard to keep.
I know a resolution that's easy, really easy to keep
and no it's not to not make one.
But I must say it won't fit absolutely everyone.
The resolution is to absolutely always without a doubt
never walk by the chocolate counter and look
also to even drool over the site of the many
different kinds of chocolate bars they stock.
Mars to Musketeers, malted milk and twix to
caramilk and hershey, but so many more,
and I'll bet we can all name at least one.

I Resolve
I would love to say I resolve to keep my tongue
When words begin to get to bubblin'
But I often go off like a rocket ship
And then there would be definite troublin'
I would love to say I resolve to be good
To be polite and nice and all that stuff
But when someone starts on my little girl
This mother bear can get awfully tough
I would love to say I resolve to stay sane
To be the sort of mother who never worries if they're away
But I will ride past their house late at night
To make sure everyone's tucked in for the day
I guess resolutions are not meant for me
I break them as soon as I make a new one
I try for a day or maybe for two weeks
But resolutions for me will always be undone !!

My New Years Resolution
Is quite strange
I hate to say.
There may be
No real solution,
But I'll try it anyway.
It's about an addiction
I've had for quite some time
To the taste of Oreo Cookies
That's always on my mind.
To go a day without them
Makes life seem really rough
Now that they make those Oreos
With fudge that's double stuffed.
A night is not a night
Without twisting one apart
And dunking it in good ol' milk
To calmly soothe my heart,
But you see,
These grand ol' cookies
That are so cute and round
Are sneaky little things
That keep on adding pounds,
So a diet I must go on,
Oh what a dreadful thought
No more Oreo cookies,
No! None can be bought.
My New Year's Resolution....
With the strength I have left,
When walking through the grocery store
I'll leave the Oreos
On the shelf.

For my New Year's Resolution
I resolve to make one I could keep
One so simple, so easy
I laughed until I could weep!
I resolved to make no Resolution!

My New Year's Resolution
Resolutions I always make,
That I always tend to break,
I find them hard to keep,
It's always a massive leap.
I always make the one,
But it never gets done,
Happiness is what I crave,
But I just need to be brave.

My New Year's Resolution
I think is going to be
No more resolutions
To constantly pressure me
They always start out fine
And seem to move along
But within just a short time
They somehow start going wrong.
I can't seem to keep up
They tend to move too fast
So my resolution this year
"Don't start what won't last."

As we struggle in life, let us try our best
To conquer all weaknesses and overcome fear
We must be courageous enough to face the test
And be strong and tough to endure and persevere
In our endeavors, let us exhibit a good attitude
To be able to live with fulfillment and happiness
Let us take care to hide our foolish moods
Behind a certain show of cheerfulness
In dealing with others, let us be kind and forbearing
And be cautious in whatever we say and do
Let us carry out peacefully our undertakings
So that we may live without a foe
But most of all let us not forget
To spend time to pray each day
For love to thrive and
grace to pour along the way.

Each New Year's comes and goes
As well as all those resolutions
The chocolate I always swear off
Finds its way to my lips once again
If I were to be honest and truthful
I really shouldn't bother at all
Because me and New Years resolutions
Have never stayed loyal for long.

What Resolution?
I have no resolution
for I cannot seem to keep
The promises I make myself
I never sow to reap.
They sneak up every Christmas
and leave me New Years' Eve
And I never even have the chance
to decide what they will be!
But New Years' resolutions
are really quite absurd
For they're the things we have all year
to keep true to our word.
Yet we never seem to notice
until the end of year
Just how much we've let it all slip by
life, dreams, goodwill and cheer.
So if I had a resolution
I wonder what it'd be,
A thousand ways to improve myself
or a holiday or three.
There are no resolutions
you are what you choose to be,
For life's too short for promises
we don't intend to keep!
