Fun Time Minis
This assignment, similar to the last, was to write about something you love to do at Christmas time that is special to you without telling us what it is for other members to guess. *s*
There are lots of things I need
To make this Christmas treat,
Rushing here and rushing there,
On tired aching feet.
Mixed fruit, dates and raisins
Brown sugar, eggs and flour,
Mixed spice and cinnamon
And also self raising flour.
1 cup of sugar and a pinch of salt
Some water and mixed spice,
Butter and bi carbonate of soda
And half a cup of rum will be nice.
Chopped and mixed together,
What aromas this treat will hold,
Bring to boil for a little while
And then allow to go cold.
Then for six hours steam this treat
And hang for a little while
On Christmas Day steam once again
And then just watch them smile.

Its late afternoon and with drinks in hand,
We head out doors and make our teams
Taking our places we through that ball,
Hit it big and go for a six!
Tripping over us we run,
Laughing loudly in the sun,
Family time on Christmas day,
Should be called a two day test,
For as tomorrow – Boxing day,
We make our teams and go again!
Oh can you guess what my special thing is?

Every year, on December first,
It all starts once again,
Mixing and baking, and decorating,
In the kitchen at Grandma Lyn's.
Eggs and butter, raisins and nuts,
Flour and sugar from the bins,
Cinnamon, spice, and everything nice
Fills the kitchen at Grandma Lyn's.
Friends and neighbors, grandchildren too,
Look forward to their tins,
All tied with ribbon and stacked and packed,
Made with love from Grandma Lyn's.

It is that time of year to make a treat
I open a bag; other times I break apart a thing or two
Either way I put it into sometime round
Add some other things I love into it too.
I stand around watching
Usually in one spot
For a long while sometimes it seems
Sometimes not
Finally it is just the way it needs to be
So carefully I move it, as it is usually hot.
Then I add a jar of something...sometimes
It depends on what I want to do
Either way I mix it all together
And pull out sometime rectangular to put it all into.
I then pour it out and put it into another rectangular thing
I guess some would call this a box
The last step is grabbing a utensil
And I use that to make it look sort of like a rock.
Then I put it into a container
And I usually give it away
But sometimes I hoard some for myself
Just depends on if I am on a diet that day.
Another hint, it is sometimes dark,
Sometimes it is not
It is very sweet and sometimes filled with small things
That are usually easy to spot.

Take a peek and see the wide variety
All kinds of things to make a child smile
But teens are not quite the same as a child
Each one tries to pretend indifference
Yet a twinkle as I make my little presentation
A hint in the eyes or around the mouth
Yes, I have made someone's day
