Easter

This assignment was to write in a form of our choosing - limerick, poem, ode etc. - about
"What Easter means to You"

Easter 2008

It is very different
Now that the children are grown
It's no use hiding easter eggs
And finding them on my own.

No need to make large bunny prints
In the hall and on the stair,
They are out to dinner,
Drinking wine without a care.

No chocolate bunnies at our house
Or fluffy bunny ears,
It is all so very different
But I remember those early years.

Easter's Treasure

The Via Dolorosa
the road to Calvary
Known as the way of sorrows
it's paved in history

A wooden cross was carried
shouldered by one man
A crown of thorns upon his head
and nails in his hands

Beaten, bruised and bloodied
tears within his eyes
He whispered "It is finished"
and with one last breath He died.

There were no chocolate eggs
or bunnies on the way
No treasure hunts or candies
on Calvary that day -

Just a crowd of mourners
with blood upon their hands,
As they cried their tears of sorrow
though they had killed this man

Today He is remembered
for His gift to all mankind,
And the Easter egg a symbol
to signify New Life.

I like it when Easter is in the spring
Butterflies with each golden wing
The sun is coming out
Which I can’t do without
When the birds like to come out to sing

A Vision of Easter

Easter is a time of Reflections
Of a Holly dream
From the heart of our Heavenly Father
Who gave is only begotten Son
So we can feel the gentle hand of peace
And to show his promise of love to everyone
I pray in time, this day
Will come to all who believe in this way
And to feel the touch of peace
That comes from this Holly Dream
