Acrostic Poetry

Acrostic Poetry is where the first letter of each line forms a word (or message), usually the same word as the title.

This mini assignment was to write a poem using either the word NEW YEAR or the word RESOLUTIONS.

N ight time breezes blowing
E nergy expended
W ondering what the new year holds.

Y ounger ones feeling sleepy
E veryone excited
A uld Lang Syne been sung
R emembering other special times.

E njoying a movie with friends
S trolling at leisure beside the river
O ften finding joy without end.
L aughter and friendship
U ndying love
T ime spent together is valued
I nsisting on taking time out
O ften remembering other times
N urturing ourselves without doubt.

E ach year as tales told
W ondering what the future brings
     and what the New Year holds

Y outhful dreams of days gone by
E mbraced in special times
A s we pause a moment to reflect
R emembering Auld Lang Syne.

R eflections of myself
E mbraced within the heart
S ide by side at sunset
O r wandering beneath the stars -
L aughter, love and tenderness
U nbridled, unrestrained
T imeless is the journey,
I n which love does remain;
O ften in reflection
N ew Years seems to be
S omething of a promise that
     we never seem to keep!

A bundle of memories to warm me
R emembering them as to the future I turn
