About Me
This mini assignment was to write a poem
about our desk....the place where we write,
where our computer is, where we spend lots of time.
My Desk
It's early in the morning
And I really must confess
That my desk is far from tidy.
It really is quite a mess.
There are all sorts of things here
That really don't belong,
A coffee cup and hairbrush,
Printed lyrics of a song.
Envelopes and paper,
Some bills that I must pay,
A calendar with reminders
Of the things I must do today.
Photographs of my family,
A necklace and earrings too,
A tube of hand cream and nail file,
Some headache tablets too.
A telephone to keep in touch
Address book and book of days,
Monitor, mouse and keyboard,
It says much about my ways.
I spend a lot of time here
It is a busy place,
It's mine and I know where things are
In this my special space.

My Little Home Computer
Though it be untidy at times,
I know where everything is.
It has its proper place,
And I like it just like this.
A mouse that lights up,
A keyboard to type.
A monitor to view at,
And not a single hype.
My little cam sits there,
Those speakers don't talk.
Why my pictures just stare at me?
I'm glad it doesn't mock.
Even though I don't use it oft,
I know it will always be there.
Until the day comes countin,
A bill unpaid oh how unfair!

An Organised Mess, er...Desk!
Here beside the window
amidst the cluttered mess
Filled with tuts and printouts
sits my dishevelled desk
It's really quite chaotic
with everything and more
From photos, CDs and knick-knacks
to reminders on the wall!
I even have a calendar
now some 12 months old
Which ended last December
but now settled in its mould
There's pens and a jar of jaffas,
a scanner, some batteries
And not to mention my trademark coke
which always sits by me.
I have my daily dose of Garfield
via calendar
A comic strip for every day
atop of my scanner.
My printer always flashing
of which I have no doubt
As soon as I replace one colour
another's running out.
I've papers in my In trays
of things which I've to do,
Postcards and addresses
and God knows what else too!
A guillotine to trim my photos
or anything I need,
A clock that lets me know the time
of countries overseas.
And then there is the corner
where I'd write out my cards
That's now home to my laptop
should I choose to "multi-task"!
So you see it's quite chaotic
but not disorganised
For I know where most are hiding
right before my eyes.

My Desk
In the corner of my bedroom sits an antique cherry desk,
Piled with items that are closest to my heart....
First and foremost, my computer (printer, scanner, keyboard, screen),
CDs full of graphics with which I can't part....
There's a pencil holder, holding everything but what it should,
And an empty water bottle, Grape Propel,
And of course the TV remote, can't miss any of my shows
While I type or write or make some graphics swell....
There's the newest set of photos of my grandkids and my flowers
Waiting to be scanned and sent to family,
And the plate that held a sandwich not so very long ago,
PC games for Addison and Kennedy.
Three or four not-so-neat piles of scribbled notes are stacked around,
Some day soon perhaps I'll go through them and see
What is written on each scrap of paper that I've saved and saved,
And perhaps I'll throw a few away....maybe....

It's littered with paper, Books and Pens
With Water Bottles, Photos and Teddy Bears,
Speakers are switched on, Printer to!
Listen to my desk, Its speaking to you!
Its big and its brown,
Its made out of wood,
It does everything
A Good desk should!
It has a lamp and a hat to!
A deck of cards,
It wants to play, too?
My camera, my clock
A deodorant can,
Sit on the desk
Waiting for a plan!
I chat to my friends, play games on it!
Write down stories and poems as well,
My desk sure is Swell

Dare you even try to find that form you need to have signed?
Everything is kind of confused, I think that stack has even fused.
See that lump under there. I think that's where I folded underwear
Knocking things over is a danger. But I think I will clean up later.

I work on my computer every day
I need to for I teach from it in various ways
My eyes are accustomed to the screen as I look
I'd much rather that way than teach from a book.
So my life centers around a computer, I have no fears
Works for me, I've been teaching for 25 years.
