About Me

This mini assignment was to write a poem about your first pet.

My Little Friend

Soft and fluffy, grey and white
A perfect little feline delight,
With painted eyes of crystal hues
And irises you could see right through;

That gazed at me from the dark
I knew at once she'd won my heart
As I plucked her from the box she came
Soon I pondered on a name.

As I watched her play with me
Her eyes that stared so intently
Chasing paper on a string
Oh, what joy to me she did bring!

The only friend in the world
She was for this one little girl
And for six years she brought to me
So many happy memories.

I was twelve when came the day
When sadly my friend passed away,
Leaving me with tears to cry
I didn't want to say goodbye.

She brought me joy, she brought me love
She was all I had dreamed of,
And I remember only too well
My little friend called Tinkerbell.

My First Pet

A fluffy ball of black and white fur
I held him close to hear his soft purr

We named him Rocky a good name for a cat
I loved when he would snuggle up in my lap

Rocky lived a life of carefree bliss
On top of his head, I would give him a kiss

The years have passed by and Rocky is gone
But I'll always remember his purring song

My sweetest little pet
The first one that I had
Was a beautiful parakeet
Whose singing wasn't bad.

My bird's name was Newberry
His name has a funny tale
It was my last name Dewberry
Always spelt wrong with an N, it never failed.

With your small little body all covered with fur,
your eyes so big and golden in colour
You stole my heart, for you looked into my soul
and told me you belonged to me
I always made sure you had fresh food, to keep you healthy
and you had a soft bed to sleep upon
Even if it was my bed, as you laid and played with my toes
You gave me happiness and a love that was
beyond this mortal world in understanding
You sat in my lap and purred when I petted you,
your purring was the most beautiful and soothing sound
I hope you knew that I loved you and treated you kindly,
I wish you could be with me always
But I knew your life was short in this lifetime,
and I stood beside you till the end
I did not let you suffer, for that pained me too much
Your leaving was gentle and loving as I held you and bid you farewell
Knowing that although my pain begins, yours has ended
Know that our time together was precious and beautiful
you made a difference in my life for all times
As you drew your last, know that I will see you again
For I know you will be waiting for me, to sit upon my lap
And let me pet throughout eternity
Knowing that I am at peace.

In memory of Boots, my cat.

She was gold, she was shiny, she was cute.
So fragile, so small, so fast what a hoot!
Not a care in the world or a problem to share
Just bottled up in a fishbowl, just didn't seem fair.
Her name was "Goldy" and she wasn't a Hawn
Breathing in and out..constantly swimming around.
Her home was colorful, full of greenery and slime.
She didnt care..she wanted a partner time after time.
I had her for months...she was a prize to behold
I won her at a carnival, that's what I was told.
She made me happy, day after day
Until finally she left me a sad day in May.
Her name was "Goldy"
And her story was told.

My First Pet

I'm going to see my dog,
I won't come back no more.
To hear remarks about me,
a-muddyin' up the floor.
There's too much said about me,
the scoldin's never done-
I'm goin' to see my doggy,
Where we can have some fun.

You bought my puppy for me
a gift for my Birthday
Now you gone and took him
and gave him away.
Mama is getting sick
You say that allergies grow,
That it's the dog's fault
and this is sompthing I should know.

My dog ran a race with me,
But he had to stop and cough;
My dog started shaking
then I saw him stop.
It was a sad day when you took him
I fought for quite awhile
You said he would be close by
but now he lives miles and miles.

I bet ya my doggy's lonesome,
I don't care what you say;
I seen him kinda cryin'
when you took him away.
When you talk to me about heaven,
Where all the good dogs go,
I guess I'll go to see my dog
and we'll have good times, I know.

My Pet

He doesn't bark
and he doesn't bite
or meow and whimper
late at night.

He doesn't sing
or play with ball
can't even dance
or talk at all.

Don't need to walk him
once a day.
He doesn't want
to run and play.

He squirms and soars
after I feed him
but he can't fly,
he has no wings.

He is not big
but not too small
to never heed
my every call.

I watch my pet
when I'm in pain
he makes me smile
and laugh again.

I need not worry
when we would part
my fish will stay
inside my heart.

My First Pet

One day when I was about fourteen
Mickey came to live with us
She was a terrier mix of curly sheen
A mutt you could really trust

She slept on my bed and licked my face
She chewed on all of my things
Left toys all over the place
And ate my birthstone ring !

But she was mine and loved more and more
She would bark and wag her tail
When I came in through the door
After I went out to get the mail

She's in doggie Heaven waiting to play
I am sure she's chewing on something
As she lays there today
And waits for my coming.

My First Pet

My first pet wasn't really my pet
a dog is what it was but it lived
under my mom and dads front porch.

It always would chase me whenever
I would leave the yard on my bike.
it chased me and would run into
the front tire of my bike.

I always fell off my bike when this
dog ran into my front tire . The one time
when I was on my bike and the dog ran
into my tire I fell off and got hurt pretty bad.
no stitches needed but quite a few really bad scrapes.
