Words and Why I Write

Words wash over me
Like a gently flowing stream,
Soothing me and healing me
Making my life real.

I love the sound of words;
Forever I've been blessed
To share the wonder of all this
With one I saw as "best".

Words such as lullaby and soliloquy,
Sonnet and love song
How could such descriptive words
Ever be thought as wrong.

I love to write and share my words
And comfort bring to some
My words envelope me
And let me know I'm home.

They wrap me up like a blanket
And bring comfort to my soul,
I share my words with others
And hope to make them whole.

Poetic Reflections

Words to me are poetry
emotions from the heart
Reflections of my inner soul
a journey I embark

A gentle river deep within
that takes me to a place
Of peaceful calm tranquility
and sweet soothing embrace

Yet even when I find myself
travelling the darkened road
And words they do not come to me,
why, I do not know

Still they will guide and comfort me
and help me understand
And show me how to find the words;
they make me who I am

For every word etched with my pen
flowing from my heart
Reflects each moment of my life,
my joys, my pain, my loves

More than my reflections
and more than poetry,
Words are the comfort of a friend,
they are my therapy.

I like to write poetry because it is a way to express myself when I find it hard to do otherwise. Poetic Expressions is a great committee to belong to if you find you like to write poetry. If you would like to know more, you can write to Linda V, Christina, or myself.

Happy Birthday, Garden of Friendship!
hugs,
Cheri

Just a Simple Mind

I love to write my feeling from my yesterdays
To share them with you tomorrow
To touch your heart for just a moment in time
By soft light in the late hours of the night
With gentle music to inspire my sleeping mind
I write the words that come from the shadows of time

Wether it be just a simple emotion
Or just a vision of a sunset over a silvery ocean
Or a dream of fantasy, love and devotion
I take the words and place them in a line
To form a verse, that hopefully will rhyme
To set a mood within your mind

To share with friends within a garden
Were the sun does always shine
Maybe to touch just one lonely soul
And bring warmth and may be a gentle smile
To the hearts of all who read my simple rhymes

Emotions rising as the words flow,
Poetry in Motion as the words go,
I like writing about feelings and thoughts,
Happiness and Sadness, Love and Hate,
Family and Honour, Birthday Cakes!
I Love writing about how I see the world,
How I feel about different things,
Sometimes the words of a poem don’t rhyme
But that’s ok, because it’s about how I felt at the time,
So, with these words, of what I love about writing,
I have one final line to bring this poem to an end
Happy birthday gof and all my Gof friends

Swimming in a deep pool of words,
Pores open wide, saturated with the
lushness of language.
Words, images, all jostling for their place.
Clamoring for their moment of painted pairing.
A canvas of paper, and infinite palette of hue, tone, and meaning;
a brush full of pen strokes soaring on the canvas.
Rhymes and couplets hide in the shadows demure and timid.
Preferring to acquiesce to the riotous frolic of free prose.
So many words in the deep pool.
Their effervescing fizz buoying me aloft,
giving my pen wings to write on the wind.

Why I Write

I never thought that I would enjoy GOF Poetic Expressions.
I was very concerned about regression.
My very first poem I wrote right here,
All wonderful people; supportive, so dear.
My mind is filled with thoughts of wonder;
I enjoy writing at night and often ponder,
At what I had and now is gone.
As I listen to words and melody in song,
Words come to me and I write them down;
Changing them, wanting the right word, not to get them wrong,
Choosing the right feeling, emotion, I begin my journey,
Suddenly the words come to me like I’m in a scurry.
All of a sudden it happens... writers block and I go blank.
I stare at my page and empty goes the tank.
Soon onto the paper words reappear and I write,
Usually this takes me late into the night,
That’s the best time my writing connects with my head.
Then when I’m all done I head off to bed;
And I put my tired body and mind to rest,
Soon I will wake up ready to write, filled with unbelievable zest!
