Planting A Fairy Garden

~ By Aletha ~

Do you ever wonder if there are Fairies? I say yes if you believe, you may not see them right away, but if you plant a beautiful Fairy Garden for them, they will come and find you. So I hope that you will consider doing this project for next year and if you look hard you might see that some Fairies have come to visit with you and you will know they have arrived when you hear the lilt of their laughter :)

Below are some of the plants you will need to create your Fairy Garden.

Fairy Rose: Are dainty pink flowers that will last through a growing season creating a lovely backdrop for the Fairies.

Rosemary: It is legend that if you have Rosemary the Fairy Babies will sleep in their flowers.

Thyme: This plant becomes a lush mound of green you can make a border with or place it near rocks where it becomes like a carpet for the Fairies to play on.

Johnny-Jump-Ups: Every Fairy Garden needs these because they are so loved by the Fairies and are self sowing relatives of the wild Violet.

Pansies: These are the cousin of Johnny-Jump-Ups and every Fairy Garden has to have these flowers which are so pretty in spring and fall; look for ones that are pale in color.

Foxgloves: Oh you must have these for the Fairies to take naps and sleep in and they look so good with the Fairy Roses and all the others flowers.

Coral Bells: Such tiny flowers dancing in the breeze attracts the Fairies so make sure you have some coral bells too.

Primroses: This is a very pretty low growing plant and they say if you have a bite of Primrose that you will get the site to see the Fairies.

Violets: You must have Violets; the Fairy Queen loves the violets so that is a must in your Fairy Garden.

Lavender: Every garden should have this plant; it is said it will attract the Elves and we know how they can be oh such fun to watch.

Ferns: We need some ferns so the Fairies have a place to hide when they need to. It is said that they have one Fairy that was bad and Fairies would sit on the ferns to make sure the other Fairies were kept safe and not taken by her.

Bluebells: When the bells ring at night the fairies go to dance in the moonlight.

Sea Lavender: Oh so pretty this plant is when in bloom and it is best planted to the back. The fairies love this plant because it looks like moon dust with violet coloring.

I hope that you will make a place in your yard to grow a Fairy Garden so the Fairies have a place to come and please remember to have some water for them so they can take a dip and drink.
