Flowers That Attract Me The Most

~ By Julie ~

I would have to say the flowers I love the most are camellias and roses, tulips and fuchsias.

When I was with my first husband we lived in the Adelaide hills and it gets quite cold up there even some winters we would get a sprinkling of snow.

My husband would plant the garden I would give instructions on where they were to grow. We had a fence of camellias out the front and they were beautiful when in flower. Their delicate petals and scent often attracted passersby so friendships were started by a conversation of the grand display of our camellias.

He didn't like roses but my second husband loves them as did his mother and when we moved into her house after she died I was blessed to have a whole garden of roses. The yellow, deep maroon, red, pale pink and even lilac color roses bloomed along both sides and across the front of the property. I would like to have all white down each side and deep maroon along the front fence and transfer what's there to the back garden.

Their petals are so perfect I have often stood there transfixed at their beauty. I do smell the roses every day.

The flowers I have mentioned are all that attract me I cannot leave any of them out.

We need to have trees and shrubs and plants that are hardy to the Australian climate because of the severe drought we are facing. A lot of gardeners are giving up their gardens due to water restrictions.

I loved the tulips and would stand there and pray they would show their heads sooner rather than later as I am very impatient when it comes to plants. Same with hyacinths I loved their perfection and talked to them to show their heads.

Fuchsias another favorite the way the petals hang down. They too are delicate and I marvel at such beauty.
