I found a scrapbook at a
rummage sale, and had to bring it home.It made me cry, so much love and time
went into it, to end up laying on a table like that. But it has many greeting
cards and post cards, and this image was from one of the greeting cards. It was
signed "Your Lonesome Wiffie" and it was an Easter card she apparently
sent her husband when he was in WWII. She wrote the date of 1943 in it.
There are many cards, which she carefully placed on pages that are now brittle
with age. Dates were written in each one, a few she had cut out tiny little
pictures of her face and glued to the card. Every once in a while I'll get
it out and look through it. I can't imagine anyone wanting to get rid of
something like that. Some things date back to the 30's, and there are even some
birth and graduation announcements in it.
Since it was war time, many of the cards regardless of the occasion, had
patriotic themes. I hold history in my hands, and pieces of someone's
life. It's something to be treasured.
I was thinking that Connie O. would have loved this
old scrapbook too. She valued life, people, memories, and things from the heart.
hugs,
Deah
