Burn Awareness
(Boomboom)

Burning injuries are one of the major causes of deaths especially among children.
Mostly this is due to causes of having
no proper knowledge on the hazards of burn injuries and how to deal with them.

The Burn Awareness Program has been created to teach the kids (especially those who study
in or below grade 7) about the harmful situations that they can be in and through this they can even
let their parents know about this.

Most of the causes for burns in children is not from fire but even hot liquids and hot water
taps. Unfortunately most parents are unaware of this. They can cause scalds in the skins. This is
especially harmful for children as their skins are thinner and hence potentially more sensitive.

The Burn Awareness week program is divided into various stages according to the grades of the
students. It includes various instructional materials, coloring pages, quizzes, activity sheets etc.

This year the Burn Awareness Week program is on February 1st - 7th, 2009.
